AI-Generated Salesforce Dashboard Mockups: Why "It Looks Easy" Isn't

By , Lead Consultant at CIPAQ LinkedIn

As a Salesforce Consultant… with AI upon us… I actually am finding myself in an interesting situation which I believe will increase in time.

Customers are now going to ChatGPT and Claude to get mockups of what they want their Sales Homepage to look like in Salesforce. As you can see, the output of the homepage from AI looks phenomenal… however, the non-technical customer thinks… this is Salesforce.

Here is a mockup provided by one of my customers who wants me to turn this around for them, thinking that the Level of Effort is similar to building out a Salesforce dashboard.

Left: custom Salesforce homepage initially developed with the limited dashboard budget for a sales rep. Right: the AI-proposed homepage dashboard from the customer

I reverse engineered the screenshot by asking Claude to provide the underlying code… THE DATA MODEL IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. It has fields that would need to be calculated and updated by many flows, assuming that the data even exists to calculate.

Bottom line

This is not Salesforce, and AI doesn’t explain what all is involved in turning this around in Salesforce. It just spits out this phenomenal-looking dashboard and customers think that hey… this is AI… AI provides you the code. Your job is easy…. NOT REALLY. My job is now way more difficult.

Have any of you started to encounter this? I am not asking for an explanation of how to address this with the customer. I’m curious if this is starting to be a common thing.

Three years ago… I used to mock this up in Figma for the customer that wanted a custom homepage. I mocked it up so I could control what is realistic… but now, with just a handful of prompts, the customer is provided with a homepage/dashboard for their sellers that looks incredible, but it is not realized how unrealistic it is to actually develop.
